The mission of the HeatGreen Council is to further the public understanding and use of environmentally responsible hearth products and fuels as home heating sources.
Welcome to our HeatGreen Council website.We're a non-profit organization that is committed to green values and to helping consumers understand more about green hearth products (fireplaces and stoves) and green fuels. There are many ways to heat homes. Some heating systems, whether central systems, fireplaces or stoves are much more environmentally friendly than others. This website also provides consumers with green rating information on fireplaces and stoves so that consumers and home builders can easily identify which ones are the most environmentally friendly, and why.
Fireplaces and stoves are the most enjoyable way to heat homes. The radiant heat and warm flickering flames are much more than just a heating source. Many of these appliances are incredibly beautiful and enjoyable to be around. Many consumers and home designers will continue to select hearth products based on cost or on esthetic appeal. Others want to know which ones are the most environmentally friendly before selecting a hearth product .
We're organized to be a resource to consumers, manufacturers and retail stores. It's our goal that the most efficient, renewable, sustainable, carbon neutral and clean burning fireplaces and stoves will be easy to identify as green hearth products and that consumers will then be able to make the best choice for their needs.
Our non-profit organization is not affiliated with any specific manufacturer, or retail outlet. Our organization is made up of many volunteers that have hundreds of years of combined experience in the development, sales, installation, operation and servicing of many different types of fireplaces and stoves.
